Some brides know exactly what they want in their wedding bouquet, and others come to us with no idea what they’d like. Some like a certain flower, a particular colour or even just a texture – and it’s often from these small details that beautiful wedding flowers bloom.
We invite all our happy couples to come and see us in our Amroth studio for a wedding flowers consultation, so we can plan their perfect day. If you’re starting to think about floral flourishes for your wedding, then here are a few things to consider before you start…
Look at what’s in season
Seasonal flowers are always going to be the best. Fresh, strong and at their most beautiful, stick to what’s growing at the time of your wedding for the most natural look. It is often possible to get flowers that aren’t in season, but these will cost more and won’t reflect what is happening in nature around you. It’s a great idea to start thinking about your wedding flowers a year before your big day, as you can see for yourself the flowers that are around at this time of year. Internet searches will also help you see what grows when, and we’re happy to advise on this, too.
First things first
Get your venue booked and your bridesmaids dresses finalised before you think about wedding flowers. The bridesmaids dresses often determine the colour scheme, and once you have your venue sorted, then you know which areas you need to dress. Certain venues lend themselves perfectly to certain styles, which can set the whole tone for your day.
Your colour palette will determine your choice of flowers, so once you’ve got this sussed then we can help you decide how to work your flowers into this. We can play with tonal colours for a subtle look, or go for bold or clashing shades to really make an impact.
Do some homework
A picture says a thousand words, so bring your mood boards, show us your pinterest pages and any fabric swatches from the dresses or suits that you may have. This just helps us build an idea of the look you’re after and gives us a good understanding of the feel of the day. Pare it down to just a handful of images if possible, and we’ll help identify flowery themes that we can see running throughout your dream day.
Be realistic about your budget
If you have a strict budget, then let us know and we’ll come up with gorgeous ways to dress your wedding that are within your price range. Decide what your priorities are – is it the bride’s bouquet and buttonholes or would you prefer to wow with a big venue installation? We’ll work together to give you the best possible options. We particularly love to show you ways your flower arrangements can be used in different ways throughout the day.
